We prepare fresh pastries daily. Our selection varies from day to day, but our offerings include fresh fruit galettes, ice cream and ice cream sandwiches, macarons, homemade caramels, bread puddings and cookies.

Justin and Katie Meddis opened Rose’s Meat Market & Sweet Shop in 2013, fusing Justin’s skill at whole animal butchery with Katie’s talent for artisan pastry. In addition to selling meat and sweets, the Shop offered sandwiches, ramen and noodle dishes drawing from Justin’s experience in Japanese restaurant kitchens in San Francisco.
In Summer 2017, Rose’s transformed from a meat market to an East Asian inspired eatery, while still serving Katie’s delicious sweets and pastries.
Parking in our area of downtown Durham can be tricky but there are street parking options as well as lots for our customers. Look for street parking spaces and residential 2 hour spaces on all the streets surrounding the shop on Main Street, Albemarle Street, West Morgan Street, Lamond Street and Gregson Street. All are within a short walking distance.
Parking is available in the Brightleaf lot across the street for free after 5pm weekdays and all day Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
We also have a parking lot in front of our restaurant that we share it with The Mid-South Fencers and The Retreat. The spaces are large enough to fit two cars. If you are going to be quick and just pick up an order or some sweets, please feel free to park behind someone in any open spot. If you are going to be dining with us for a little while please pull forward to so that someone can park behind you quickly. Please do not block anyone in if you are staying longer than a few minutes.
